Vape Pods: An Introduction

Hey folks! Another week brings another blast of cannabis knowledge to help you stay in the loop in an ever-changing industry. This week, we’re going to be taking a look at a product that’s relatively new to our catalogue of items: Vaporizer Pods. These are an alternative to the usual 510 thread distillate and live resin vape cartridges you may have gotten used to seeing in our cabinets. So, without further ado let’s get into the nitty gritty of what Pods are and how they compare to other products in the same category.

What the heck are pods?

Like I said above, pods are an alternative method to consuming THC distillate in a vaporizable format. They function in much the same way as the 510 thread cartridges in the sense that they heat up distillate in order to vaporize it so that you can then inhale it vis-à-vis the mouth of the vape cartridge. The key difference is that pods are not as universal as 510 cartridges, with each pod design being somewhat unique to each brand that produces them. For example, we here at Circa 1818 have recently brought in the Rizzler brands pods (apparently “Rizz” is charisma in cool kid speak. The more you know.). Rizzler brand pods are only compatible with Rizzler brand batteries, which have a very slick and unique design.

Why would I try a pod over a 510 cartridge?

With pods being less universal and essentially the same price as 510 thread cartridges, you might be wondering why you would want to try one out. One word: Reliability. The failure rate of pods compared to cartridges is extraordinarily low and it comes down to the fact that the licensed producer of the pod is also in at least some way involved in the design and production of the battery that’s used for the pod. This is in stark contrast to 510 cartridges, where the battery is not intended for use with a specific product and is instead intended for universal use. This attention to the design of the battery means they can prioritize the functionality of the hardware and drastically reduce the rate at which the devices fail to produce that sweet, sweet THC.

When Brandon decided to bring the Rizzler and General Admission brand pods into the store I was originally not completely sold on the idea. However, my experience so far and the experiences of those who have used the Rizzler pods in particular have been excellent and have convinced me that they are a great alternative to the sometimes unreliable 510 thread devices and batteries. And if a crotchety old pothead like me can try something new, anyone can!

So, next time you’re in the market for a new THC vape, consider picking up a pod. Variety is, after all, the spice of life.
