Rolling Papers
Different Types of Rolling Papers
One of the overwhelming things about entering the world of cannabis for the first time is the sheer variety of different things available to you. From thousands of different strains to hundreds of different accessories and brands, it can be a daunting experience. No reason to panic though, your friendly neighborhood budtenders are here to help! We’ll start small, with the humble rolling paper.
How many different types could there even be?
Many. So very, very many. For the purposes of keeping this post from becoming a novel, we’re going to focus on some of the most popular types. The different types of papers that we’re going to focus on today are ultra-thin, slow burning, hemp and unbleached. This variety of papers can be found under tons of different brand names like, for example, Zigzag, which is an old school rolling paper producer that has been around for a long time.
Ultra-Thin
Ultra-thin rolling papers are beloved by many a joint roller and smoker for one very important reason: less paper. This means less ash and (according to some people) less “paper taste”. So with ultra-thin papers you will ideally only taste the flower you’re smoking.Shop Ultra-Thin
Slow Burning
Slow burning rolling papers are exactly what they sound like: papers that are produced to burn slower than a standard rolling paper so that your joint will ostensibly last longer. Production method may vary brand to brand but effectively the papers are thicker or made from a variety of plant fiber that burns slower than the standard material used to make a regular rolling paper.Shop Slow Burning
Hemp
Hemp is a word that comes up a lot during conversations about cannabis and its many uses and applications. Hemp is a plant in the same family as Cannabis, however it lacks a significant amount of THC and is used to create a wide range of products from clothing to building materials. Hemp rolling papers are prized by those who want a superior rolling paper. Hemp fibers are more durable and burn smoother than their alternative plant pulp equivalents. Also, hemp agriculture is far less damaging than other forms of agriculture, so if you love the planet this is the paper for you!Shop Hemp PapersORZig Zag Hemp Papers
Unbleached
There’s a common misconception when it comes to unbleached papers. Regular rolling papers do not have any bleach on them, but instead go through an oxygenation process which make the natural colors of the plant fibers or wood pulp from the paper fade into white. Unbleached simply means that this process hasn’t been performed on the papers, thus giving them a more natural coloring which some people appreciate in their rolling papers.Shop Unbleached
Organic
Finally, we have organic papers. There are a few brands out there that have organic papers and what they’re effectively trying to convey is that the papers were produced in an environmentally friendly way and are generally unbleached. So, if you’re looking for a no-frills type rolling paper that still burns smooth, these would be your go to optionShop Organic PapersThese are just a few of the many different varieties of rolling paper that are available to cannabis smokers today.
