Best Cannabis Beverages

Hey folks! As the weather continues to stumble and trip towards summer sun and fun a lot of our customers are getting ready to crack open a cold beverage and enjoy the weather. Which means it’s time to talk about the best Cannabis Beverages available on the regulated market.

With the latest studies on the subject showing the damage that even occasional consumption of alcohol can do to the human body, many Canadians are pivoting away from their occasional glass of wine or couple of beers towards the far less harmful weed drinks. So, with that in mind this seemed like the perfect time to go through a list of what the staff here at Circa 1818 think are the best beverages of the batch (and we would know, seeing as we have an absolutely OUTRAGEOUS beverage selection. Seriously, look at our menu). Without further ado, onto the list!

The Best of the Bevs

Cannabis beverages come in a variety of forms; you’ve got some that are straight THC and some that are just CBD as well as some that bring the best of both worlds and other cannabinoids into the mix in order to alter the effects. With that in mind, I’m going to be listing not only what the favorites are but also what they bring to the table in terms of unique effects. So, in no particular order, here are the best beverages we think you’ll find in the cannabis industry right now.

Collective Project Blood Orange Yuzu & Vanilla Sparkling Juice: This product has been a winner amongst the many different beverages we’ve brought in over the last few years. It tastes like an orange creamsicle and brings 10 mg of THC balanced with 10 mg of CBD to the table, making it the perfect beverage for someone looking to have a relaxing drink in the warm sun. The THC will get you where you want to go and the CBD will make sure you don’t take an unexpected trip into discomfort. The folks at Collective Project have a long history of brewing beers and other non-cannabis beverages under their Collective Arts label and they definitely have shown they know what they’re doing.

XMG Cream Soda: XMG has had an interesting journey. When we first tried their selection we were not entirely sold. There was a bit of an aftertaste that was not very palatable and there was an almost filmy quality to the texture (this was a very common problem in the early days of regulated cannabis beverage production). However, they changed brewers and the quality of the taste and texture went through the roof on all of their offerings, with the Cream Soda (10 mg THC) being the most universally well received. Who doesn’t love a good cream soda?

Zele Sarsaparilla: The entire Zele stable of beverages are solid as heck but I’m putting this one front and center because one of our Budtenders, Beck, is obsessed with this particular flavour. It has absolutely zero cannabis taste and is perfect for root beer lovers thanks to its rich, old-school flavour. They use a very distinctive infusion method that results in a great tasting beverage that avoids using cannabis distillates and instead uses full spectrum cannabis extract. The end result is a great tasting beverage without the risk of the bitter taste of distillate. It’s packing 10 mg of THC to help get the job done.

Mary Jones Soda: This entire line of beverages are stellar, with each one sporting 10 mg of THC. If you’ve ever had Jones Soda before, you’ll know what to expect in terms of flavour. They’ve got everything from Green Apple to Root Beer (or Boot Rear as they call it) and everyone of them is a winner, making it difficult to pick a single one out of the lineup to highlight. So, next time you’re in if you want to take a sugar rush to THC mountain, grab a Mary Jones Soda. Speaking of mountainous volumes of sugar….

Phresh Blue Raspberry: Much like the Mary Jones brand of beverages, the entire Phresh lineup is pretty stellar, I’ve been told by some of our regulars that they’ve found the Blue Raspberry (10 mg THC) to be the best. As an added bonus, all of them have either low or no sugar whatsoever! Perfect for people who want to reduce their processed sugar intake while not sacrificing flavour. The extra care and effort that goes into making these beverages taste delicious without the addition of sugar really shows, do yourself a favour and try them out!

Soleil Dragonfruit Watermelon CBD Sparkling Beverage: Finally, we reach the CBD only beverages. There are quite a few of these out there and they’re great for those who want to take the edge off of reality without delving into the intoxicating aspects of THC. Of all of the ones we’ve had in, these ones have been the most consistently enjoyed, with yours truly finding the Dragonfruit Watermelon flavour to be particularly nice way to imbibe 25 mg of CBD. As someone who lives with chronic pain, being able to get a healthy amount of CBD into my system quickly and deliciously is amazing and this beverage nails it.

And that concludes my (very brief) list of the best of the beverages! There are so many out there that deserve honorable mentions, too many for me to list without getting carried away. It’s a category that’s quickly becoming a favorite for people everywhere but especially in beach towns like ours. So, this summer enjoy a cold glass of one of the many delicious cannabis beverages that are out there!
